Growing up in the Netherlands, Rudy studied audio-visual arts at the Willem de Kooning Academy of Arts in Rotterdam.

For his Bachelor degree, he focused mainly on documentaries and motion graphics. After studying 1 year abroad at Zokei University of arts and design in Tokyo, he decided to live in Japan, where he has been working as a professional video creator for over 15 years.

For 8 years Rudy worked at the head office of adidas in Japan for an in-house production studio called “Elastic”, collaborating closely with the marketing team, and various other departments to create videos and photos on a daily basis. This content was used in broadcast news reels, stores, the official website, social media, trade shows, magazines, employee education, and many other purposes.
His own personal favorite project was photographing soccer clinics for children in big stadiums from Sapporo to Okinawa.

When adidas started their online store in Japan, Rudy took care of the local product photography. First as a photographer, then as volumes increased, as a director of a team of photographers and stylists. 10.000s of photos have been delivered to adidas by this team. A couple of years later Rudy would do similar work for other brands, and was hired by the Asics headquarters to create the global photography manual for their products.

After his time at adidas Rudy became a freelance video creator. Creating a close and solid connection with various clients, he shot, directed, and edited promotional content for products and events. Lately he has travelled all over Japan to create tourism promotion media.

Today he has delivered over 700 professional videos, and Rudy’s edited video content has attracted over 100 million views on Youtube worldwide for his clients.

Though he sees himself primarily as an editor and camera enthusiast, when needed, Rudy will also step in to direct, film cinematic footage, take photos, or create supplemental motion graphics with After Effects, providing a full solution for creating video content.

His extensive experience with the marketing staff of a big brand on a daily basis gives him the rare ability to think along with, and give advice to, his clients. This allows Rudy to view projects through the client’s eyes, and see the bigger picture beyond just the delivered content.

This has been especially useful for smaller or younger companies who haven’t had much experience with creating videos yet. And his connections with many other creative freelancers in Japan and abroad only add value to what he offers, making him truly a one stop video creation solution.

Rudy’s end clients include adidas, Reebok, Tailormade, Asics, Life Fitness, Armani, Hilton, Marriot Hotels, Nissan, Casio, AIG, Japanese companies like Tobu Railways, Yaho Breweries, Bandai, Cains, Dentsu, and countless tourism promotion projects for regional Japanese government agencies.

Over 5 years ago Rudy moved from Tokyo to Kamakura, where he enjoys swimming in the ocean, walking in the mountains, creating his online travel show, and talking about himself in the third person.
